This extraordinary workspace, otherwise called the barn, still needs a lot of work inside. Thanks to Joanna and Ohio Barn Quilts for the beautiful Wagon Wheel.

With the help of Barns Unlimited, who did a great job, our barn now has an extension and the inside has been finished and insulated.

But blowing snow and freezing temperatures simply made the barn more picturesque.

Oak stakes and tree shelters are piled up inside the barn. We are using the forestry standard white oak stakes, primarily because of our hard rocky soil. These stakes are also rot resistant, so they should last beyond when the saplings will no longer need tree shelters. The white tubes are five feet tall, the height recommended by our forester, Richard Cappell of Wit Brothers Forestry.
